Historic Byways

Kwill Consultants has just completed the development of a Corridor Management Plan for the Walton Road Scenic Byway, which follows U.S. Highway 70 North between Fort Southwest Point, Kingston, Roane County, Tennessee, and Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, a distance of some ninety miles across the rugged Cumberland Plateau. Kwill Consultants worked with the Upper Cumberland Development District and Lardner Klein Landscape Architects to bring this project to fruition.
In addition to the Walton Road Historic Byway, Kwill Consultants in conjunction with the Alliance for the Cumberlands has begun work on the management and development of a corridor management plan for the Northern Cumberland Historic Byway between the landmark Cumberland Gap, and the historic Cumberland River town of Celina, Tennessee. Scenic and historic byways are excellent, sustainable ways to preserve, protect, and promote the cultural and natural resources of an area. Work on the Northern Cumberland Historic Byway will be completed in 2014.
